PERU is back!

We bought a bag of the new crop fresh from Peru last week.  It’s awesome and will be most welcomed by those of you who like the dark, rich, robust roast of this incredible bean.  We’ve done several roasts, and it’s consistently great.  Come in and try it!

Good News: Bad News

PERU IS BACK and as awesome as ever!  It is from a different plantation in Peru, but is as deep and flavorful as our last bag.  I roasted some today and the roast aroma is incredible.  I’m sure you will enjoy it.  A downside for some of you might be that for David’s Dark Duo, you may have to decide if you want the original made with Peru or the second edition made with Bolivia.

MEXICO IS GONE, at least for the moment.  For my last purchase, I was unable to buy a bag, but I’ve been assured that for my next purchase, it will be available once again.  For those of you who enjoy the mild, yummy taste of Mexico, I would suggest the Honduras.  It has many of the same smooth, mellow characteristics.  We will be using the Honduras for flavored coffee until Mexico returns.  I’m sure you will enjoy it as much.

Peru Decaf is back

Coffee Prices

There has been considerable news lately about an increase in coffee prices.  Quite a few customers have made inquiry about what those increases mean at Roasters.  Rest assured that even though Starbucks has made a considerable increase in cup prices, you’re not likely to see us follow soon.  I make at least a monthly buy of green beans, and although there have been a few increases, there have also been a few decreases.  Some beans are becoming harder to find, and others are quite easy to get a hold of.  Remember that coffee beans are traded on the commodities market, and frequently the prices reflect what buyers think the product will cost sometime in the future.  The real world does not always bend to this speculation.  Therefore our prices at Roasters will not reflect the speculation, but will be based on the reality of what we have to spend to bring you a quality product.  Sometime around the end of the year we will assess our cost of production and make price adjustments then if it seems a prudent thing to do.

10-10-10 Results!

Thanks for helping us have a good time today selling coffee.  You bought 33 pounds of coffee at our $10/pound special price.  The most popular single origin bean was La Minita from Costa Rica.  This one was followed by Bolivia and Tanzanian Peaberry.  Again, it was fun for us and we’re glad so many of you took advantage of this savings opportunity.

Celebrate 10-10-10

On Sunday, 10-10-10, Roasters will be having a bit of fun and you are invited.  Come to the store and buy roasted beans for $10 per pound.  Offer good Sunday only while roasted supplies of beans are available.  Beans sold in one pound increments only.  See you Sunday!

La Minita Retains 1st Place

I finished my June bean sales analysis today and Costa Rica La Minita retains its position as the primary single origin bean in the store.  It is followed closely by Peru.   However, you Sumatra drinkers have made an incredible move into third place.  As always, however, I am delighted by the spread of bean sales.  They are really all over the board.  It shows me that we are meeting your coffee needs, and that is a satisfying feeling.
