There has been considerable news lately about an increase in coffee prices. Quite a few customers have made inquiry about what those increases mean at Roasters. Rest assured that even though Starbucks has made a considerable increase in cup prices, you’re not likely to see us follow soon. I make at least a monthly buy of green beans, and although there have been a few increases, there have also been a few decreases. Some beans are becoming harder to find, and others are quite easy to get a hold of. Remember that coffee beans are traded on the commodities market, and frequently the prices reflect what buyers think the product will cost sometime in the future. The real world does not always bend to this speculation. Therefore our prices at Roasters will not reflect the speculation, but will be based on the reality of what we have to spend to bring you a quality product. Sometime around the end of the year we will assess our cost of production and make price adjustments then if it seems a prudent thing to do.
